How can I ever thank you
for being who and what you are
If I have never told you,
I am taking the time to tell you now
Just how much you have been
an inspiration in my life
Your guidance, your friendship,
and your understanding have been
The necessities of my life,
the backbone of my existence
You taught me to respect myself and others at all times
You've shown me that giving of myself is possible
without giving up me
Whenever I needed someone to talk to
or a shoulder to cry on you were always available
You knew when I needed and was afraid to ask for help
You just stepped right up and held out your hand
Never downing me, never I told you so
You never stopped loving me Mama,
no matter the circumstances
When I didn't make the best decisions
or when I disappointed you, you still loved me
It is that love, your unselfish love that has made me
who and what I am today
I hope that this Mother's Day is as good
to you as you have been to me
