Society says you don’t exist
but that my brothers not true
Of all the traits that make good men
one could find them all in you
Your patience, love and dedication
you give without a thought
Determined to make it against all odds,
with unwavering strength you’ve fought
No one knows the burdens you bear
or the daily battles you face
Fighting stereotypes the negative hype
and past stigmas that won’t erase
But still you keep on persevering
and with every step you take
By doing what’s right, you fight a good fight,
with each step the barriers break
From dishing out discipline to shoveling out love
your devotion to family and friends
Even cooking and cleaning giving help
where needed for all you do there’s no end
Respecting your family supporting your kids
holding down a job or two
When life knocks you down you get up again
that’s what good men like you do
So today I celebrate you,
a man most worthy of praise
For the example you’ve set for the world
to see and the power that message conveys
"Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers."
