Real Life Greetings was established in 1998 by Lisa Dedmon in Muskogee Oklahoma.
Born with the love of words in her heart, Ms. Dedmon always had a gift to put words together. It wasn't until she found it difficult to find cards that were reflective of African Americans that she determined in her heart that she would one day write greeting cards that dealt with issues in the African American community.
While at work one day a client of hers was sketching and she took notice of the artwork. That day her vision manifested. She wanted to have her cards to look and feel real. She wanted cards that were representative of real life.
Ms. Dedmon then began researching the greeting card market and noticed that while she found cards that were humorous and said thank you and dealt with bereavement; she could not find any cards that dealt with the issues that most people were dealing with. She couldn't find a card about trying to make ends meet, or the daughter who got pregnant. There weren't any cards about a child that was in a gang, or the ever growing epidemic of drug addiction.
(She) wanted the cards to offer hope and inspiration to those reading them and every card is inclusive of scripture and most of the cards speak of the goodness of God.
These cards are not exclusively for African Americans because African Americans aren't the only ones dealing with issues such as gangs, drug addiction, teen pregnancy, or domestic violence. These cards just happen to have African-American faces, but the words are universal.
It is the prayer of Real Life Greetings that you are inspired by our greeting cards and that someone is blessed or helped by their content. I thank you for visiting this web site and I pray that you bless someone else by fowarding this site.
